Decor

You know when you redo (or in my case, get a brand new bedroom) and three months go by and you get that itch to redecorate?…. Anybody?…. Guys?… Must just be me.
Redecorating is my biggest weakness. I love designing and decorating and redoing my room. Right now, especially, I’m feeling the need to upgrade a little. This is partially because I need a new duvet cover really bad, so why not upgrade the rest of my room too, right?

I will be buying some of these products:
bedding, floral pillow, velvet pillow

And plan on making the others:
string garden, jar lamps, fox pillow, leaf map, crate night stand, painted vintage coat rack, tree branch rack, chalkboard

It might take awhile to get everything finished, but this is my goal.
Can’t wait to show you how it all turns out.

Sincerely,
Kendra Leigh

If you have been thinking to yourself “man, I voted on Kendra’s poll for her to do _______ diy project and never found out which one won!” I have a great explanation for my delay in response. I’M MOVING OUT! I’ve been a little distracted in the hunt for a condo, but we found the golden nugget of all condos in downtown Phoenix.

I’ve been so so blessed in many ways during this chapter of my life. First, my friend Megan’s dad is buying the condo for us and we are renting from him. This opened up so many more properties for us and might I add, we are getting a steal. Thanks, T-dawg (a.k.a. Mr. Specker, a.k.a. Megan’s dad, a.k.a. Tony.) We are still waiting for all the paper work to go through, but unless anything weird happens, the condo is ours! YAY! Second, I am going to have the most awesome roommates ever. I will be living with my friends Megan and Cheyna (click their names to find out more about them via their fantastic blogs.) I couldn’t be more excited to live with these two girls who I know will grow to be a bigger part of my life that I can even fathom. Third, the apartment is SO AWESOME! It is three stories (with a garage on the bottom,) three bedroom, two bath, fireplace, granite counter tops, balcony, brand new stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer, a pool that is heated year round, a gym, and it’s close to the light rail I take to school! I seriously couldn’t ask for anything better. Fourth, we have been blessed with so much furniture and accessories. Praise God!! (Please excuse my excessive use of exclamation points, but really.. can you blame me? This is so exciting!!) Our move-in date is July 27 so we have a ways to go, but the timing couldn’t be more perfect. I will have time to get most of my belongings packed before I go on vacation and will return home from just in time to pack it all up and move. Plus, Cheyna wanted to move in the beginning of August right before school. Perfect, right?

I am one lucky girl.

So please bear with me as I put the DIY projects on hold. I will be a busy girl preparing and packing this next month, but the winning DIY project WILL be done for my new house, just stay tuned. And because I know it’s killing you, the project that won is….. drum roll please…. the hanging garden! (Sorry Grandma, I know you don’t like this one, but trust me, it will be cool. And I might throw in the runner-up too: brooch knobs for my dressers.)

Please keep my lovely roommates and I in your thoughts and prayers as we prepare for this big step into adulthood. We could not be more thrilled to start the adventure.

Sincerely,
Kendra Leigh

P.S. I bought this delightful shower curtain today from Cost Plus World Market. Decorating is going to be a blast!

It’s barely summer break and I’m already bored even anticipating that I have nothing, nothing to do on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Ugh. I’m the busy-bee type girl who drives most people insane with my strong desire for constant movement. Thus, I must come up with productive plans for myself or else I will most likely land on Facebook or watching TV, boring activities that trick my mind into believing it’s entertained. So I’ve come up with several DIY decorating projects for myself to complete this summer. Below are some products I am choosing from to make and post instructionals for in the upcoming weeks. Take a gander at the options and then cast your vote for which project(s) I should make this summer.

This is a tea-pot lamp for sale from anthropologie, but I would love to make one for myself in order to avoid the $198  price tag.

I love these lampshades and would like to make the one on the left. Maybe to go on top of the tea-pot lamp? Or would that be too much?

I have several pieces of plain, nothing-special, wood furniture in my room. I will spruce them up this summer by taking old brooches and turning them into adorable knobs.

I love everything nature, especially when i can bring it indoors. I would love to make these floating log shelves.

This is a hanging moss garden. Did I mention I love bringing nature indoors?

So now it’s time to vote. Feel free to add your own ideas. You may vote more than one time so you can include all the options you like.

Sincerely,
Kendra Leigh
